I will admit to being a little bit leery of trying Mystery of the Ancients: Curse of the Black Water, mostly because of flashbacks to the cartoon The Pirates of Dark Water from the early 90s (not that I had a problem with the show, I’m just not sure it’d make a great game). Happily, the description and sample screenshots were intriguing and convinced me to give it a try. It was not a decision I regret.
The main storyline is about trying to find out what happened to two archeologists who have recently disappeared. They were investigating the island town of Black Water, and when you trace their movements, you discover they may have accidentally triggered the beginning of the end of the world... oops.
So, now it's up to you to find a way to stop the darkness, all while trying to avoid becoming monster food.
I loved this game; it was really adventurous, and had a great mystery feel to it. Mystery of the Ancients: Curse of the Black Water was also thrilling and featured beautiful graphics, enchanting music, and offered nothing but good times.
I even enjoyed the hidden object areas and puzzles, which were challenging but well within my abilities.
A big part of the reason I was able to enjoy Mystery of the Ancients: Curse of the Black Water as much as I did ,was completely due to our Mystery of the Ancients: Curse of the Black Water Walkthrough.
Even though the in-game map allows you to jump around, I still managed to get lost (either physically or in understanding what I’m supposed to be doing next). Luckily, I had our walkthrough by my side the whole time, so I could easily reference it for tips and tricks. And that’s not even mentioning the custom screenshots, which got me out of more than one tight spot.
Trying to save the world from an eternal darkness can be daunting, but with our Mystery of the Ancients: Curse of the Black Water Walkthrough along for the ride, not even Poseidon could stop you.
